Pep Guardiola’s side are in imperious form with 19 goals scored already, including six in the drubbing of Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.
The reigning champions are odds-on favourites to win this fixture, and they have won on their last four trips to Villa Park.
Villa manager Steven Gerrard is under increasing pressure with the Midlands club having won just three of their last 16 league matches.
Half time/Full time: Manchester City/Manchester City
There’s not much point backing City to win at 2/5. Instead, the half time/full time market presents some value for this fixture. Guardiola’s team have not been perfect thus far, and have fallen behind on multiple occasions, but this is a fixture they should control from the first whistle.
Villa are completely devoid of confidence right now. Gerrard might tweak his line up for this one as he searches for a winning formula, but it is unlikely to have any difference.
The hosts have their work cut out to avoid the sort of hammering Forest endured in midweek.
To Score Two Or More Goals: Erling Haaland
Doubts about Erling Haaland after the Community Shield have rapidly faded. The Norwegian phenom has nine Premier League goals already, including a pair of hat-tricks. Posting an outrageous 1.52 expected goals per 90, Haaland as the spearhead of this City attack is an unstoppable combination.
Guardiola will inevitably give Haaland a rest at some point, but that’s unlikely to come this weekend after he scored another hat-trick in midweek. Against a struggling Villa side, this is a good price on two or more goals from the former Dortmund man.
Total Away Goals: Over 2.5
City have scored 13 goals in three matches, including three away to Newcastle. The Magpies are a better all-round team and a more organised defensive group than this Villa side.
For most teams, this kind of goal-scoring run would be unsustainable. That is not the case for City, particularly with Haaland leading the line.
It would be a surprise if they scored fewer than three goals, making this a great price.
