Aston Villa v Chelsea Betting Tips & Predictions

Chelsea are 17/20 favourites for their trip to Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as they look to continue their strong start under Graham Potter.

Chelsea have won four in a row in all competitions after an emphatic victory over Milan at San Siro in midweek.

Aston Villa are now unbeaten in four matches, but were left frustrated in their last two with draws against Nottingham Forest and Leeds.

Injuries are a factor for both teams as they prepare for this match

Ludwig Augustinsson, Boubacar Kamara, Lucas Digne and Diego Carlos are all unavailable for the hosts. N’Golo Kante has suffered a setback, keeping him sidelined until the World Cup, and Wesley Fofana is out.

Chelsea are still waiting for news of Reece James’ knee injury.

Winner: Chelsea

17/20 (SpreadEx)

Steven Gerrard has made Villa a tough team to beat, particularly at home, with just one defeat from four league matches in 2022-23. Chelsea, though, are full of confidence, looking fluent in attack and sufficiently solid in defence under Potter.

This is a good price on the visitors to take all three points – they are clearly the better side and should be able to create enough to win the match.

Anytime Goalscorer: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

7/4 (Unibet)

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has registered nine shots in his last four matches, scoring three goals in that period. Enjoying playing in a fluid frontline, Aubameyang has showcased his clinical finishing ability and appears to have regained full match fitness.

The former Arsenal striker might be facing an Aston Villa defence which does a good job at limiting chances, but he will still get opportunities in front of goal.

This is good value on Aubameyang to score his fourth of the season.

First Team Booking: Aston Villa

9/10 (Sporting Index)

Aston Villa have amassed 23 cards in the Premier League so far – only three teams have more. The Midlands club have been shown the first card in three of their last four matches.

Chelsea have picked up their fair share of cards this season, which hasn’t changed much under new manager Graham Potter.

The visitors will dominate this match from the first whistle, though, making an early Villa booking likely.
