US Open Championship

The US Open is the third of the four majors to take place in a calendar year. The tournament is on the official schdedule of the PGA Tour and the European Tour.

Staged by the United States Golf Association (USGA) the tournament’s full title is The United States Open Championship. It is the United States’ national open golf championship. Since 1898 the competition has been 72 holes of stroke play (4 rounds on an 18-hole course). The tournament is held in mid June and the final round is traditionally scheduled for the third Sunday in June.

The U.S. Open is staged at a variety of courses. They are traditionally set up to make scoring very difficult, with a premium placed on accurate driving. As of 2022, the U.S. Open awards a $17.5 million purse, the largest of all four major championships.

US Open 2024

Pinehurst Resort, North Carolina, will host the 2024 U.S. Open at the venerable Donald Ross course from 6, 2024. This will be the fourth time that Pinehurst have hosted the competition.

Pinehurst Resort is located in Pinehurst, North Carolina, United States. It has become an iconic venue for golf in the United States and globally after hosting a number of prestigious events. These events include three U.S. Open Championships, one U.S. Women’s Open, three U.S. Amateur Championships, one PGA Championship, and the Ryder Cup. 2024 will see the venue host a fourth US Open.

The resortconsists of nine 18-hole golf courses, each named simply by a number, and a 9-hole short course. Pinehurst No. 2 has consistently been ranked as one of the top courses in North Carolina and among the best in the United States.
