UFC on ESPN: Kattar vs. Chikadze
With 2022 now upon us, it is time to re-enter the Octagon once more and although UFC 270 will appear on the horizon next weekend, fight fans can also look forward to caged warfare in just a few days’ time.
Warfare that comes in the shape of a stacked fight card at the UFC Apex facility in Nevada and with another crop of fighters hungry to impress the boss Dana White, victory on Saturday will move them closer to an appearance on one of the headline shows.
While the main event for this encounter sees Calvin Kattar go up against Giga Chikadze in the Featherweight division and with both men looking to move up the rankings, nothing less than a victory will do.
Calvin Kattar vs Giga Chikadze Top Tip:
With Chikadze currently unbeaten within the realms of the UFC, he will go into Saturday’s encounter as favourite and if you think he will earn his eighth successive octagon win at the weekend, you can back him at odds of 2/5.

The Weekend Underdog
With nine previous UFC fights to his name, it is fair to say that Calvin Kattar has a decent fighting pedigree. While this statement can be backed up, by that fact that he was won seven of those nine octagon appearances.
However, the 33-year-old Kattar comes into this fight off the back of a loss and after being bested by Max Holloway almost exactly a year ago, 2021 was then a period of lengthy inactivity for The Boston Finisher.
While finishing is exactly what he will look to do at the weekend, as he goes toe-to-toe with Giga Chikadze and with the Georgian giving nothing up in terms of age, this will be an incredibly interesting encounter.
Especially as Chikadze is currently unbeaten within the UFC fight banner and after earning seven successive wins, an eighth on Saturday will surely propel the Tbilisi-born star up the Featherweight rankings.
A Perfect Seven
After making a first UFC appearance in 2019, it is fair to say that Giga Chikadze has never looked back and although he needed the judges to provide a victory in his first four appearances, it has been a completely different story since November 2020.
Because that was the month which Chikadze delivered his first TKO win in the UFC and since then, TKO’s have been the order of the day, as the Georgian has followed up with another pair of stoppages in 2021.
With Jamey Simmons disposed of in the third round some 14 months ago, it would earn the first of three of successive Performance of the Night awards and since that success at UFC on ESPN: Santos vs. Teixeira, it looks as if the 33-year-old has found a new edge to his performance.
