Rangers and Celtic meet in the Scottish League Cup once again. Both teams come into the match having won their last five games. Celtic lead the SPL from Rangers by nine points. However, in cup matches in general and in Old Firm games in particular, form can go out of the window.

After a disappointing start to the season, including a disastrous Champions League campaign, Rangers have massively turned things around since the World Cup break. They are unbeaten in their last 17 matches in all competitions. They have also progressed to the quarterfinals of the Scottish Cup. The Gers have beaten Queen of the South, Dundee FC, and Aberdeen in the League Cup in order to reach the final.

Celtic have been in good form all season, though like their rivals they will be disappointed with their Champions League campaign. They lead the SPL and are due to face Hearts in the Scottish Cup quarterfinals. In the League Cup, the Hoops have beaten Ross County, Motherwell, and Kilmarnock on their way to the final.
