Arsenal host Manchester City in a top of the table showdown at the Emirates on Wednesday evening. Mikel Arteta, who was assistant to City boss Pep Guardiola for three years, has seen his side lead the table for most of the season. However, should the Citizens win they can climb above Arsenal, though the North London side have played one match fewer. Winning at the Emirates would be no mean feat, the Gunners are one of only two Premier League teams who are unbeaten on their own ground this season, the other being Newcastle United.

Arsenal were held at home against Brentford on Saturday, while City enjoyed a comfortable home win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

Long-term absentees Gabriel Jesus and Mohamed Elneny remain on the sidelines for the Gunners, while Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe lack match fitness. Erling Haaland is doubtful for City. He was substituted at half-time against Villa after a colliding with Villains’ goalkeeper Emi Martinzez. John Stones is still out with a thigh injury.

There is obviously still a long way to go in this season’s title race, but victory for either side would hand them the momentum and a massive psychological boost. It promises to be an exciting and intriguing 90 minutes.
