With Manchester City in FA Cup action, Arsenal will look to stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points. Since losing at home to City, a result which many feel would shift the momentum of the title race to Pep Guardiola’s side, the Gunners have returned to form and opened up a five-point lead at the top. Mikel Arteta’s side crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday, losing to Sporting Lisbon on penalties. It was obviously a disappointing night for the Gunners but they are now free to concentrate solely on the title race.
Crystal Palace suffered another defeat in midweek, at the hands of Brighton. The Eagles are struggling for form, they are without a win since New Year’s Eve and have failed to score in their last four matches. However, they have managed to secure draws against Newcastle United, Manchester United and Brighton in that time and have only conceded more than once three times in 2023.
