Southampton host Newcastle United in the semi-final first leg at St Mary’s. The Saints go into the tie bottom of the Premier League. However, there have been signs of improvement since Nathan Jones took over, especially in the cup competitions. The home side, who lost to Aston Villa at the weekend, stunned the Premier League’s second placed side Manchester City in the last round. They will be hoping to spring another surprise against the high-flying Magpies.
Newcastle are in fine form, their goalless draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday extended their Premier League unbeaten run to 15 games. However, they have struggled a little in front of goal in recent matches, with goalless draws in three of their last six games in all competitions. Eddie Howe’s side enjoyed a 2-0 victory over Leicester City in the last round and will be hoping to take a lead back to St James’ Park next week.
The league match between the two sides at St Mary’s in November ended with a 4-1 away win for Newcastle. However, things have changed since then with Jones replacing Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Tip: Marcus Rashford to score, Manchester United to win and both teams to score: Was 5-1, now 6-1 with enhanced odds at William Hill.
Nottingham Forest face Manchester United in the first leg of their semi-final at the City Ground on Wednesday. Forest beat Wolverhampton Wanderers on penalties to make the last four, while the Red Devils comfortably saw off Charlton Athletic.
Forest have picked up of late, moving away from the relegation zone. Steve Cooper’s side came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth on Saturday. They are unbeaten in four league games and are in 13th place in the table.
Manchester United had been in great form. However, a draw away at Crystal Palace, where they conceded a late equalizer, and a defeat in a titanic top of the table clash against Arsenal, means that they have lost ground in the title race.
The two sides met over the festive period at Old Trafford, and United ran out comfortable winners.
