Real Madrid and Barcelona lock horns in the latest el clasico confrontation at the Bernabeu, in the Copa del Rey semifinal first leg.

Madrid go into the tie after a mixed week. A typically ruthless performance saw Los Blancos beat Liverpool 5-2 at Anfield in the first leg of the Champions League last 16.  They followed that by being held to a draw by Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby, despite Diego Simeone’s side being reduced to 10 men.

Barcelona, who lead the table by seven points, endured a disappointing week. Thursday saw them crash out of the Europa League at the hands of Manchester United before losing to struggling Almeria in La Liga at the weekend.

Of the two classicos this season Real Madrid won the league clash in October, while Barcelona gained revenge in the Supercopa de España in January.

Madrid will be without the injured Ferland Mendy. David Alaba also looks likely to miss out and Rodrygo is doubtful. Robert Lewandowski and Pedri are ruled out for Barcelona, while Ansu Fati and Ousmana Dembele are doubtful.
