Brazil vs Peru Betting Tips & Predictions

The host nation of Copa America 2021, Brazil, had to fight really hard to make it through to the upcoming semi-final. In the quarters they faced Chile and took the lead through Lucas Paqueta early in the second half. Two minutes later a setback came as Gabriel Jesus took a red card, meaning that Brazil had to fight almost a full half with a man deficit. Despite this they kept their own net clear, or well, besides when Eduardo Vargas scored a goal that later would be disallowed through a VAR check. Their upcoming opponent, Peru, made it through to the top four after a crazy match against Paraguay that ended 3-3 at full time. Penalties decided the Peruvians fate, and now they will face the main favourite of Copa America in search of a spot in the final.

The bookmakers offer no doubt in who the favourite is for this semi-final. Brazil are priced at odds as low as 1.10-1.15 to make it to the final. Peru on the other hand has received odds upwards of 8 times the money. Speaking in probabilities it’s a crushing 90-10 in the favor of the Brazilians.

Betting Tip: Brazil -1.5 for odds 1.70+

The star studded Brazil is only one match from another Copa America final, which would be the fourth in the 2000:s. To reach there they still have to put aside Peru, who also were their opponent in the 2019 Copa final. That time around the Brazilians had no issues at all, and the feeling is that it will be the case again. Sure, they will be missing Gabriel Jesus, but with the depth Tite can select players from that should be no issue. Asian Handicap -1.5 on the Brazilians is in our opinion worth a shot here. Peru should not be able to keep up with Neymar and all the other star players around him.

Brazil vs Peru Copa America Game Analysis, Odds and Betting Predictions

Brazil were clear favourites to win Copa America 2021 before the tournament started, and with four teams remaining they still are. Argentina is however shadowing them closely with Lionel Messi in great form, having already provided 4 goals and 4 assists in the tournament.

On paper the Brazilian head coach, Tite, has a very strong squad to work with. The same can’t be said for Ricardo Gareca, who’s in charge of the national team of Peru. The class difference on paper is immense, but luckily football matches are decided on the pitch, not on paper.

This semi-final between Brazil and Peru will be played at Estadio Olimpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiroon the night between Monday and Tuesday (for all Europeans out there), and both teams have one forward suspended each. Gabriel Jesus in Brazil and Andre Carrillo for Peru. The loss is certainly bigger for Peru, who does not have close to the depth of talent as their upcoming opponent.

Brazil - Overview & Facts

Finding Brazil in the Copa America semi-finals is not a surprise, and the table is set up for a dream final against Argentina at Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro. Both teams have one last obstacle to get over, and to be fair we have seen quite a few big surprises in the South American championship through the years. The head coach, Tite, has only one major concern coming into the match against Peru, and the question is who will replace Gabriel Jesus?

Brazil to win Copa America

Anything other than Brazil advancing to the final by beating a “small” nation like Peru would be labeled a fiasco. The teams met in the group stage, and Brazil made short work of the Peruvians that time around, winning with a dominating 4-0. The win was never in question as Alex Sandro started the goal scoring in the 12th minute. Neymar extended the lead, and made Peru desperate for finding offense. This led to two more goals from the Brazilians instead. The win was clearly deserved and showed the Brazilian dominance, but it has to be mentioned Peru still managed to create a few high quality scoring chances.

Brazil at Copa America 2021:

  • Brazil - Chile 1-0
  • Brazil - Ecuador 1-1
  • Brazil - Colombia 2-1
  • Brazil - Peru 4-0
  • Brazil - Venezuela 3-0

On the way to this semi-final Brazil have only dropped points once (1-1 against Ecuador). The result should be taken with a grain of salt due to Brazil making big changes for that much to rest their star players. Other than that the Brazilians have dominated their opponents completely, even if the match against Colombia required a comeback from 0-1. The team has simply done the job close to clinically, and no logic can predict them to lose against Peru.

Expected Starting 11:

Ederson; Danilo, Marquinhos, T Silva, Lodi; Casemiro, Fred; Paqueta, Firmino, Richarlison; Neymar

Paqueta feels like the logical replacement for the suspended Gabriel Jesus. He performed well as he was subbed on against Chile previously, and he even scored the only goal of the match. Another option could be Everton though, who won the top scorer title at Copa America 2019.

Peru - Overview & Facts

Peru is ranked as the 27th best national team in the world right now, compared to Brazil at #3. To make it to the Copa America final this year they need to perform well above expectation as the giant Brazil stands in their way. Reaching a semi-final is already a great achievement for this Peruvian team, especially considering they came to the tournament without players like Farfan and Guerrero. Despite losing 0-4 to Brazil in the opening match the team managed to finish the group in second place. Seven points in the three remaining matches while facing Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador is a sign of strength.

With the forward star, Andre Carrillo, missing for the upcoming match the pressure is on Gianluca Lapadula to perform. He has scored two goals in the tournament thus far, with one being crucial against Paraguay in the quarter-finals. We still expect another player to become the key for Peru in this match: the goalkeeper Pedro Gallese. If Peru is to have a chance to shock Brazil, then Gallese will more than likely need to perform some heroics. Peru have conceded 10 goals so far, and that does not impress anyone. A fact that better change fast, or Peru will be packing their bags.

Peru at Copa America 2021:

  • Peru - Paraguay 4-3 (after penalties)
  • Venezuela - Peru 0-1
  • Ecuador - Peru 2-2
  • Colombia - Peru 1-2
  • Brazil - Peru 4-0

Peru had to empty their batteries against Peru to reach the semi-finals. After 120 minutes the score stood at 3-3, meaning that penalties had to settle the battle. Peru scored 4 out of 6 penalties against the 3 of 6 for Paraguay. Small margins, but here we are.

Expected Starting 11:

Gallese; Corzo, Ramos, Santamaria, Trauco; Ormeno, Pena, Tapia, Yotun, Cueva; Lapadula

Santiago Ormeno is expected to replace the suspended Andre Carrillo. The 27-year old striker has this far far only been substituted on now and then during Copa America 2021. Against Paraguay he received 30 minutes of play time as he replaced Sergio Pena.

Brazil vs Peru Head - to - Head Analysis

When it comes to the H2H department between Brazil and Peru, it’s no fun news for the Peruvians. Out of 49 matches Brazil has a 35-5 lead with 9 draws rounding it out. A small consolation is that 2 of the 5 wins are from the five previous years.
