Salzburg v Chelsea Betting Tips & Predictions

Chelsea are 4/5 favourites for their pivotal matchday five Champions League clash with Salzburg in Austria on Tuesday night.

Graham Potter’s Chelsea blew a lead at home to Manchester United on Saturday, ultimately sharing the spoils after United’s last-gasp equaliser.

The Blues’ attention turns to the Champions League in midweek, as they face a Salzburg team who drew at Stamford Bridge earlier in the campaign.

Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Wesley Fofana and Reece James are all out for the visitors.

A win will confirm their place in the last 16, but Salzburg are not to be taken lightly. The Austrian club are yet to lose in Group E and held Milan to a draw at Stadion Salzburg.

Winner: Chelsea

4/5 (Sport Nation)

Chelsea are yet to taste defeat since Potter took over.

The weekend was a disappointing outcome, but they are still full of confidence, and have played some of their best football of the season in their last two Champions League matches, notching wins to nil against Milan.

While Salzburg have some exciting young talents and will believe they can get a result here, Chelsea’s superior quality should shine through over the 90 minutes.

Both Teams To Score: Yes

20/23 (Paddy Power)

Chelsea’s clean sheet streak came to an end at the weekend, and their expected goals conceded indicated that being such a steely defensive team was a bit misleading.

Most of those clean sheets can be attributed to the otherworldly form of Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Salzburg have scored in all of their Champions League matches, and haven’t failed to score in a home European match since they welcomed Villarreal in the last 32 of the 2020-21 Europa League.

Most Corners: Chelsea

4/6 (Unibet)

There were just five corners when these teams met in London, with Chelsea edging it 3-2. The Blues had over 70 per cent possession, though, and will again control this match.

With 17 shots in the previous meeting, Chelsea are expected to pile on the pressure at Stadion Salzburg, which should lead to an uptick in their corner return.

The two-time Champions League winners have had the most corners in all four of their group stage fixtures.
