Rangers have lost both of their Champions League matches without scoring. Liverpool have had a poor start to the season and sit in third in Group A with three points on the board. Jurgen Klopp’s side had to come from behind to draw against Brighton at home on Saturday.
After losing three consecutive matches in all competitions, Rangers have got back on track with domestic victories either side of the international break, including a 4-0 thumping of Hearts at the weekend.
Both Teams To Score: Yes
Liverpool have conceded eight goals in their last three matches. Rangers’ attack is yet to find the net in the Champions League, but they are going to have opportunities to score against this porous Liverpool back line.
The electric pace of Ryan Kent, in particular, is going to be a problem for Liverpool down their right, where Trent Alexander-Arnold is really struggling defensively.
There’s no way Rangers can keep Liverpool out, so this is basically a wager on Rangers to score. The 27/25 price is great value.
Total Cards: Over 3.5
Rangers have received five yellows and a red in two Champions League matches. Liverpool have just three cautions over 180 minutes, but Rangers’ threat on the counter could see the Reds make some rash challenges.
With the visitors fighting for their Champions League lives and Liverpool desperate for a win, this has the makings of an intense evening under the Anfield lights.
Evens on four or more cards is well worth backing.
First Team Booking: Rangers
Rangers have received the first booking in each of their last five matches in all competitions.
Liverpool haven’t been shown the first card in either of their last two matches, and didn’t go into the referee’s book until the 86th minute at the weekend.
Liverpool will have the majority of possession in the early going, leaving plenty of chances for Rangers players to make caution-worthy tackles or accumulate fouls.
