Ajax v Liverpool Betting Tips & Predictions

Liverpool are 17/20 favourites for their Wednesday night trip to Amsterdam to face Ajax in Champions League Group A.

Ajax have just three points from four Champions League matches following two heavy defeats to Napoli.

Liverpool need a lone point from their last two Group A fixtures to confirm their place in the knockout rounds, but suffered a shock defeat to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

The visitors remain without Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Arthur, Joel Matip and Naby Keita. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ineligible.

Ajax are missing Kenneth Taylor and Ahmetcan Kaplan as well as Mohamed Ihattaren and Ahmetcan Kaplan.

Winner: Liverpool

17/20 (Bet365)

Ajax have conceded the second-most expected goals in the Champions League.

Liverpool completely outclassed the Dutch club when they faced at Anfield, registering 24 shots to Ajax’s three. The fact Liverpool needed a late goal from Joel Matip to take all three points was somewhat misleading.

Liverpool have now won three in a row in the Champions League, where they seem to be able to put in more complete performances than they have managed domestically.

Total Goals: Over 3.5

13/10 (Unibet)

This is a must-win for Ajax if they are to remain in the Champions League.

It’s not like they would ever play for a draw anyway, but they have be aggressive in chasing the three points in this match. It is primed to be wide-open from the first whistle as a result.

Over 3.5 has landed in three of Ajax’s four Champions League matches and each of their last five in all competitions.

Anytime Goalscorer: Mohamed Salah

27/20 (Unibet)

Mohamed Salah hasn’t been at his best in the Premier League, with just three goals to his name.

It’s a different story in the Champions League, however, with five goals in 264 minutes of action.

Salah is the ideal player to take advantage as Ajax are forced to leave space in behind and chase the match.

Only six players have registered more expected goals than Salah in the competition so far.
