Chris Pitt is an experienced journalist and author of several books on horse racing including the highly acclaimed ‘A Long Time Gone', charting the history of Britain's lost racecourses, and ‘Go Down to the Beaten', telling the stories of jockeys who didn't win the Grand National. He founded the Midlands Racing Club to encourage interest in the sport through organised visits to race meetings and trainers' stables, tipping competitions and club nights with well- known jockeys, officials and members of the media. A former racing correspondent for BBC Radio WM, he was also feature writer for the betting industry publication BOS Magazine prior to becoming involved with He has visited every British racecourse and attended race meetings in a dozen countries. He lives in Birmingham, UK with his wife Mary, who is also a racing journalist.
