The online betting industry is flying, not literally of course but in a metaphorical sense things have never been better. This has seen a number of new players enter the market over recent years as big business wants their slice of the cake but are these newcomers any good?
We continue our series of bookmaker reviews by looking at 22bet, new to the industry in 2018 we will review how they have done with regards to their welcome offers, their customer service, their variety, in-play options, their security plus everything else you could wish to know about an online bookmaker. Read on to find out more:
22bet know how to entice new customers, as with many other online bookmakers they offer new users a welcome bonus that should encourage them to sign up to an account. The 22bet offer is surprisingly good compared to some other bookmakers on the market.
22bet offer 100% matched bonus on the first deposit up to £50 to all its new customer. This is a pretty common strategy in the iGaming world where bookmakers encourage players to open an account and deposit. As the name suggests you get 100% increase on that first deposit up to a maximum value of £50 which essential means you can start playing with a pot of £100 by only risking £50. Please note that you must enter the code "50SPORT" when making your deposit to claim this bonus so do not forget to do this or you won’t be able to claim the welcome offer.
As with all bookmaker online the 22bet offer has some terms and conditions that you should be aware of. The first is that you must wager on an event with odds of at least 1.65 or more for the bonus to count.
Once you have claimed the welcome offer you have 30 day with which to play it or you will lose it so be mindful of that. The 22bet welcome bonus can be used on any in-play of pre-match sporting event but you can only have one bonus activated at any one time so make sure you use the welcome offer before any other promotions 22bet may have running.
Keep in mind that 22bet is not operating anymore in the UK, and the welcome offer isn't available for customers that coming from the island. However, 22bet is known as a global operator and it provides welcome offers for dozens of other countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, and others. All of the bonuses for new customers are with excellent value, and they are converted into the local currency, so we advise you to check them and make your betting outstanding.
Jumping onto the 22bet website the first impression are fairly understated. The site appears to be fairly standard but made me negative impression is the logo. It looks like it was made by a student trying to learn to use graphic editing software for the first time (not that important, granted, but still not a fantastic way to show off your new company).
The logo blending into the dark green theme of the site is not ideal but they do win with the way the left hand menu clearly lays out the sports, or at least the main ones, available to the players. The logos, for example NHL, are great and make it clear for users where they need to go to find their preferred sport or league.
One thing that is really frustrating, however, is the way you have to scroll down to the bottom of the menus using three separate sliders. Initially it appeared as though the site was not working properly as the bottom of the page couldn’t be seen when using the main scroll down slider for the page but on closer inspection you will find each menu (left, centre and right) has their own dark colour slider of their own. It means that you constantly have to go up and down with these in order to see all the information which is not great for usability. May be they will read our review speak with their UX experts and fix it.
Overall, though, the site functions reasonable well and will be fairly intuitive for most players that have already been using some other bookmakers online.
22bet have a wide and varied range of sports available that more or less makes up for some of the above mentioned issues. They cover 27 in total which include the most important sports such as football (American & Aussie rules included), tennis, golf, rugby (league and union), boxing, basketball and volleyball. On the day we reviewed the site horse racing was unavailable which we will come to in a minute. They also have some more niche sports which is always an advantage for those with a deep interest in the less mainstream. These include water polo, martial arts and even the world of esports which also sees 22bet cover MOBA games (League of Legends & DOTA2)! Politics and non-sporting events are also available.
The odds are fairly competitive though you will find that you can get a touch more from some of the already established giants when betting on some of the main events. Be sure to really delve deep with 22bet as there is some excellent value to be had and you certainly will not be complaining that they are not competitive
22bet offer a considerable range on in-play options which are easy to find and intuitive to use. Just click on the ‘in-play’ option in the main menu to bring up all the sports that are currently taking place around the world.
The menu at the top of the screen once you enter the in-play area of the site will help you navigate through the specific sports, so for example, tennis or baseball. The great thing about the selections on offer is the range. You can follow baseball from South Korea or football from Norway to Thailand, the choices are almost endless.
22bet do not have an option to bet on horse racing or so it appeared when we visited their site. This is a big negative and will certainly put some players off the bookmaker. Horse racing is one of the most important sports when it comes to betting so for it not to be available was a massive surprise especially when other bookmakers were offering many race options on the same day that we conducted the review.
This may be an intentional omission or just temporary but it is certainly not going to be a popular choice with a large number of gambling enthusiasts.
22bet have recently developed an app which will allow their customers to bet on sporting events on the go. They are a fairly new company as we have already discussed so the app has not been available for that long. Looking on the website it can be hard to find out how to download and install it which is frustrating but a search on any good search engine will help you find it.
It is available on iOS and Android and offers a decent experience giving users all the same functions that are offered on the website with a high level of usability. The app is fairly standard but it does exactly what is required bringing 22bet in line with their competition in this department.
Having an excellent range of help options is a must for an online bookmaker and it is pleasing to see that 22bet rate very highly in this department despite being a fairly new company.
Firstly, they have a phone number which you can contact (+44 2037 690147) which will be answered by a well-informed, friendly member of the 22bet team. Secondly, they have an email address ([email protected]) where you can send any question of queries you may have and finally, definitely the most important to online gamblers, the 24/7 live chat. This has become the most convenient way in which to contact any online company but especially bookmakers and offers a fast, almost instant response no matter what time of the day you are playing.
The other impressive help offered by 22bet is the FAQ section on their website that has step-by-step walkthroughs on a number of problems and will probably have the answers you are looking for including registration, placing bets, cancelling bets and much more
With security being such an important feature for an online bookmaker you know that anyone worth their salt will have this covered and we are pleased to say that 22bet do just that.
They use the latest 256-bit SSL encryption meaning that all communication between your computer or phone is fully encrypted using advanced logarithm combinations. This will ensure that you can play at 22bet with the peace of mind of knowing you are in safe hands.
They are fully licenced by the Gambling Commission under the parent company of TonyBet who are a bug name in European betting.
Payments with 22bet should not cause you any problems whatsoever. They have a plethora of options available for both deposits and withdrawals, all of which come free without any fees for moving money around.
They accept deposits using Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe Card, Visa and ecoPayz all of which require a minimum deposit of €10.
For safety they operate a closed loop system which means that any withdrawals have to go back into the account that funded the 22bet account in the first place.
For a company that burst onto the scene only last year, 22bet have done really well to make such an impressive start. They give a generous welcome offer that will help you get started and their odds are good value, some of which are the best on the market.
The site may not be the most user friendly but it certainly functions well enough and has plenty of options available to suit nearly every sports fan. The fact that horse racing was not available when we reviewed the site was disappointing but we are not certain whether this is a permanent omission.
The customer service is excellent as are the support FAQ plus you will find payment and withdrawals both smooth and quick. As of yet, 22bet do not offer a live streaming service but their in-play options are very good as is the accompanying app.
Overall, 22bet are a solid online bookmaker whose welcome offer is well worth creating an account for but don’t forget to use the code "50SPORT" when you sign up.
